Constructor’s Impersonate tool allows you to view the impact of personalization on ranking in search queries and browse experiences.

In addition to selecting an anonymized user profile to impersonate, you can create a custom user profile with the activity and history you specify. In doing so, you can view how a specific set of user details influences how products rank for a search query or browse experience.

Impersonate a custom user profile

If you have already created a custom user profile, then you can impersonate the user by selecting it from the list of custom users.

1. Select Interact in the top-right corner of your Constructor dashboard.
2. Enter a search query in the field provided, or select a category. This establishes the context for the interaction.
3. Select the Personal attractiveness toggle in the side menu.
4. Select Edit to the right of the current profile listed.
5. On the Impersonate panel, locate the Select User section and choose the Custom option.
6. Select the desired custom user from the list of users.
7. Review the user details, then select Impersonate on the right side of the page.

You will be redirected to Interact where you can view refreshed results reflecting the activity and history of the custom user profile.

Create a custom user profile for impersonation

When you create a custom user profile, you can add the following actions/history to a custom user profile:

• Clicks. Define specific products or categories the user has clicked on to simulate interest.
• Cart Additions. Specify which products the user has added to the cart to simulate purchase intent.
• Purchases. Add purchases to see how past buying behavior impacts future recommendations.

Step 1: Create a custom user profile

1. Select Interact in the top-right corner of your Constructor dashboard.
2. Enter a search query in the field provided, or select a category. This establishes the context for the interaction.
3. Select the Personal attractiveness toggle in the side menu.
4. On the Impersonate panel, locate the Select User section and choose the Custom option.
5. Select + New Custom User.

Step 2: Define custom profile behavior and history

1. In the Basic Details section, enter a User Name and Description for the profile in the corresponding fields. These details will help you identify this profile from other custom profiles you might create.
2. In the Add view products section, click into the Search field and begin typing the name of a product. Results will automatically populate. Select your desired product.
   • You can also use product keywords, such as pants or shirt to bring up products with that keyword in the name.
3. Repeat this step to add another product in this category.
4. To remove a product, hover over the product and select the trash can icon on the right side of the product.
5. Repeat steps 2-4 in the Add add-to-cart products and Add purchased products sections.
6. Once done, select Save & Impersonate in the top-right corner of the page.

Once you save the profile, you’ll be redirected to Interact where you’ll be able to view refreshed results reflecting the activity and history of your custom user.

View and edit a custom profile

At this time, you are unable to edit a custom user profile. Selecting the profile from the Custom menu will allow you to view profile details, such as the products viewed, added to cart, and purchased.

Delete a custom profile

If you no longer need a custom user profile, then you have the option to delete it. Please note that once deleted, a custom user profile cannot be recovered. You will need to create the user again.

1. On the Impersonate panel, hover over the custom profile you wish to delete.
2. Select the trash can icon on the right side of the custom user tile.
3. You will be prompted to confirm your action. Select Yes, delete it on the pop-up to continue.
