What is Constructor's policy on load testing?

Constructor will handle all legitimate traffic for our customers with our globally distributed, fault-tolerant, performant infrastructure and will auto-scale to meet any legitimate customer traffic. Part of this robustness owes to protections in place to ensure we serve search traffic only for legitimate users of the service.

What is load testing?

Load testing refers to the process of simulating traffic to a service programmatically with the purpose of determining if, when, and under what conditions it may break or experience degraded performance.

Due to Constructors performant architecture and auto-scaling, it is not necessary to load test the service to be sure of its ability to scale to your needs.

What is Constructor's policy on load testing?

Due to the potential to negatively impact our customer base, load testing is not permitted, except under specific conditions. Moreover, load testing outside these conditions may result in warnings, account usage fines, throttling (which may affect your traffic from load testing as well as legitimate users), or termination of service.

What are other companies' policies on load testing?

Load testing is generally frowned on due to its potential to impact SaaS service quality. See, for instance, the AWS policy on load testing.
